Current Exhibition: 'Life On The Edge' at Morvah Schoolhouse until 13 April. Uplifting paintings inspired by living on Cornwall's Atlantic Edge. See outstanding review comments by Frank Ruhrmund in 'The Cornishman' Thurs 29 March, page 16.
'Two Bright Birds' Exhibition - 24, 25 and 26 November 2017. Come up St Just and see what's been happening here in Studio Stokes... Helena has been developing her work as an artist through weekly sessions with me in the studio since the beginning of the year. I have been making new paintings after selling nearly all my stock last year. We are two friends who have been encouraging each other to keep painting and keep shining our bright inner lights no matter what... and are delighted to welcome you to enjoy a weekend of paintings, mulled wine and mince pies. And fear not, we have card facilities here!

Open Studios 28 May - 5 June: Three days in and I'm delighted with visitors and sales. Many originals have gone; some oils and gouaches and a small number of prints remain. The hen paintings have positively flown out of the studio. Here are, 'Loving Sisters' (which I have painted since Open Studios began) and 'Blessed Hens'.
16 May 2016 - 'Majestic Rogue', my iconic magpie painting, is featured in "city-savvy" 'Manor' Magazine's Spring Issue (p66) introducing the 2016 Open Studios Season to readers and visitors to the South West. I'm really looking forward to opening my studio doors, 12 noon till 4 pm every day from Sat 28 May to Sun 5 June (excluding Wed 1 and Thur 2 June).
26 April 2016 - I'm pleased today to be able to offer my new book 'Paintsongs From Cornwall' for sale via Blurb.co.uk. (http://ow.ly/4n5lgS) This is a collection of paintings, drawings and musings inspired by life and land on this beautiful Penwith peninsula where I live.
14 April 2016 - I've been discussing mount board as a ground with my conservator friend S as I delight in the soft/firm structure and matt smoothness. She suggested 100% cotton board and gave me some samples. I simply love the surface and strength of the material and find I can let myself flow with Sketchbook freedom to produce satisfying outcomes, from economically applied strokes and lines to energetically worked textures and densities. Here are some of my most recent results: all within the past week. See Figure Work page for details.
Come and visit me during Open Studios Cornwall 2016 - ten days of art from 28 May to 8 June 2016. Details to follow.
I'm loving the palpable increments of increasing light with each new January day. Have started making sketches in the garden, mostly, between showers and downpours, which I can then work from later in the day or evening in the studio. These are turning into bold and free mixed media works, which I recognize as a prelude to new paintings on canvas, and lovely in their own right.
"Jingle Belles" Open Studios Weekend 4, 5 December was amazing. Thank you to all who came.
